first_img Section individual final: Quartz Hill senior Erdman, who has accepted a partial golf scholarship from UC Riverside, finished 11-over-par 84 in Friday’s Southern Section final at Diamond Bar Golf Club in Diamond Bar, coming within a stroke of conditional qualifying for individual play in next week’s regional final. Dilger, a sophomore, shot 93 in the 89-player competition, from which the top 28 golfers qualified for regional play. The next 15 spots – four players at 81, seven at 82 and four at 83 – were conditional qualifiers for regional berths that might be vacated by qualifiers who also reach regional play as members of qualifying teams. Golden League final: Erdman shot 81 at Crystalaire Country Club and 82 at Rancho Vista Golf Course in Palmdale, finishing 163 to win her first league title. The survivors move on to Thursday’s section final at Indian Hills Golf Club in Riverside, from which the top four finishers qualify for Monday’s Southern California Regional championship at SCGA Golf Club in Murrieta. Golden League individual champion Ali Erdman led three-time league team champion Quartz Hill into the first round of the Southern Section team playoffs Tuesday at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard, where the Rebels needed a top-four finish to advance to Thursday’s section final. Quartz Hill, making its fifth consecutive appearance in the team playoffs, was one of eight league champions playing in the Northern Regional at River Ridge, which played to 5,362 yards and par 72 for the 20-team field of 119 players. Erdman, Katie Dilger, Chelsie Martinez, Ayla Friga, Marisa Mitchell and Sara Webb represented Quartz Hill, which concluded a 17-3 overall season with a 12-0 record in league play before Erdman and Dilger placed 1-2 in the section-qualifying league individual tournament. Golden League runner-up Lancaster also participated, making its postseason debut with a team composed of Amber Frauhiger, Ellen Harris, Melissa Higgins, Candice Goodwill, Tara Matus and Shannon Izquierdo. last_img read more
